Access lidar via an OT+ subscription (for non-academic users).
This subscription provides access to lidar topography covering most of the US mainland, Hawaii, and territories as well as satellite data over the Arctic and Antarctic. This includes access to the USGS 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) and NOAA Coastal Lidar.
In response to Hurricane Ian, OpenTopography is temporarily removing our academic user restriction on access to USGS 3D Elevation Project (3DEP) lidar datasets for impacted areas in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. We hope that OpenTopography's easy to use... more
A new lidar dataset covering 53 km2 over the McLeod Springs Wash in Nevada is now available on OpenTopography. This lidar dataset was collected by the National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) as part of the Seed grant program for Michael Hasson at Stanford University. This dataset was collected to help analyze morphodynamics of an unvegetated meandering river.
NCALM is an NSF-funded center that supports the use of airborne laser mapping technology (a.k.a. lidar) in the scientific community and is jointly operated by the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering,... more
A new lidar dataset covering 61 km2 over Padre Island, TX is now available on OpenTopography. This lidar dataset was collected by the National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) as part of the Seed grant program for Kenton Fisher at Texas A&M University. This dataset was collected to help analyze changes in the sand budget, elevation, and geomorphic facies of Padre Island.

OpenTopography has updated the LINZ dataset over Westport, New Zealand with new data that now covers over 6000 km2 along the west coast of the South Island. This collection is part of the South Island, West Coast regional lidar survey, and is the first dataset that was collected as part of the Provincial Growth Fund (PGF)-LiDAR project. The PGF-LiDAR project commenced in 2018 after the Government made co-funding from Kānoa - Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit (previously known as the Provincial Development Unit) available over five years to support regions across New... more
OpenTopography will be at the Arizona Geographic Information Council (AGIC) Education and Training Symposium in Prescott, AZ this week. Be sure to stop by the OpenTopography booth to say hello and learn more about about the topography data access and services that OpenTopography provides!
As part of this year's AGIC meeting, OpenTopography will be running a half day short course, "Intro to Lidar, Data Access, and Processing with OpenTopography" on Wednesday, August. 31 at 1:30 pm MST. (Capacity currently full, waitlist available.) This hands-on session will provide an introduction to... more
A new lidar dataset covering 53 km2 in the Wax Lake Delta, LA is now available on OpenTopography. This lidar dataset was collected by the National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) as part of the Seed grant program for Justin Nghiem at the California Institute of Technology. This dataset was collected with both an infrared and green channel to enable collection of bathymetry as well as the ground surface and will enable research to help understand modern coastal sediment accretion rates and spatial patterns in the Wax Lake Delta, LA

A new lidar dataset covering approximately 2,185 km2 of coastal Otago, New Zealand is now available on OpenTopography. The dataset was captured between June and October 2021 for the Otago Regional Council by AAM Ltd., with data management and distribution by Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand. This dataset is available through an ongoing collaboration between OpenTopography and LINZ that makes OpenTopography the primary distribution platform for point cloud data collected as part of the LINZ national elevation program.

Four new lidar datasets collected by the National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) are now available on OpenTopography. These include a dataset covering 73 km2 of the Marble, Middle and East Forks of the Kaweah River in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. This dataset was collected in 2021 as part of an NCALM Seed Grant for Sophie Rothman at the University of Nevada, Reno to assess how self-generation and retreat of bedrock steps and waterfalls can alter river profiles.
A dataset covering approximately 943 km2 of the Middle Usumacinta region in eastern Tabasco, Mexico was... more
