Indiana 2011 - 2013 Statewide Lidar Survey Data Available

OpenTopography is pleased to announce the release of almost 50,000 square kilometers of point cloud and raster data covering the state of Indiana. The recently released Indiana 2011-2013 Statewide Lidar represents a joint effort to make statewide data available by several Indiana state and federal agencies as well as private companies and individuals through a service agreement with OpenTopography.

OpenTopography Advisory Committee Seeks Student Member

OpenTopography is guided by an advisory committee which represents OpenTopography users and partners and provides valuable input on decisions related to OpenTopography priorities for data ingestion, interoperability relationships, algorithm and tool deployment, collaborations, and education and community engagement. We seek a graduate student (M.S. or Ph.D.) to join the advisory committee and represent the interests of young scientists who interact with OpenTopography.

USGS LiDAR No Longer Discoverable via OpenTopography

The US Geological Survey recently discontinued delivering LiDAR data through the CLICK (Center for LiDAR Information Coordination and Knowledge) interface. While CLICK was active, the OpenTopography Find Data page provided users the ability to discover and easily access LiDAR data available from the USGS archive. Now that CLICK is no longer active, OpenTopography has removed this functionality from our site.

OpenTopography Completes Ingestion of all NCALM Lidar Data Collected Between 2003 & 2012

OpenTopography is pleased to announce that we've completed our work to ingest and provide open access to all National Science Foundation funded lidar datasets collected by the National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) between 2003 - 2012. In total, there are now 116 NCALM point cloud lidar datasets available via OpenTopography - greater than 126 billion lidar points over more than 22,000 km2 of North America.

New Point Cloud Data from California, Colorado, Washington and Wyoming

OpenTopography recently released five new point cloud datasets collected over areas of Owens Valley (CA), the Colorado Rockies, Mt. Rainier National Park (WA) and Yellowstone National Park (WY).
