We have recently migrated hosting of OpenTopography’s bulk data from the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) data storage cloud (OpenStack Object Storage) to their Universal Scale Storage (USS) service offering. USS is a managed service of Qumulo’s hybrid cloud file storage provided by SDSC that offers better performance and is highly scalable. Migration of OpenTopography’s bulk storage to the USS service improves overall security, enables detailed usage metrics while lowering operational expenses. USS also supports multiple pathways of access including via S3 interface.
Users who have developed scripts to download data from the SDSC data storage cloud environment will be impacted and will need to update their tools to reference the USS environment. See this FAQ for additional information.
